Photographers Illustrated was formed in the summer of 2001 by Terry Glynn at the web developers, the 55 Hundred k Co Ltd., based in Cheadle, Cheshire, UK. www.5500k.co.uk Terry brings over thirty years in the photographic industry and twenty five years on computers to the project.

The site was created to help increase the profile of professional photography and provide a resource, featuring new product information, links to sites of interest, items for sale or wanted and also showcase the work of Professional Photographers in the Gallery.

It has grown rapidly from a few pages to its present size. Initially, most traffic was generated by photographers groups, notably Prodig and Redeye (to both of whom we owe many thanks), but, as a result of the 55 Hundred k Co investment in site marketing systems, we now reach a large international audience.

In June 2002, we made the decision to move to a new, larger and better specified site.  Not only does this give us room for expansion but also the potential to add more, and interactive, features. We look forward to the future!

September 2002 saw the launch of Gallery of Light, the 55 Hundred k Co mini commercial print gallery at UK Shops.com followed at the very beginning of 2003 by the first release of Daylight Gallery with its online shopping cart and secure payment system.
